Standard Versus Joined Searches Print This Page

WebQuote provides the capability to create use and save both standard and "joined" searches.

Standard Searches

In standard searches, each filter added to the Filter By list reduces the search results, returning only items that match all the criteria. It is the intersection of the filter criteria.

"Joined" Searches

In Joined searches (enabled in the Add Search Results section of the Quote List or Customize Quote List), each search added broadens the search results, returning items that match the criteria of either search. It is the union of the filter criteria (without duplicating the items that match all criteria).

Nested "Joined" Searches

In WebQuote, you cannot perform "nested joined searches", meaning you cannot join searches that have already been joined.

For example, suppose you have a Status ID=1 search. If you join it to an MM Number search that is already joined to a Canada Customer search, the Canada criteria is ignored. The results will be no different than if you joined the Status=1 search to the MM Number search.
